The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Foam Review

One of the items that I got from Althea Korea's beta testing here in the Philippines was this product. I was looking for a facial wash for daily use then to add to my shopping bag. I would have gotten the Aloe Cleansing Foam from Nature Republic if it weren't the whitening/brightening phase I was in. I decided to get this one as it was the cheapest brightening cleansing foam at the website.

The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Foam

Info about The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Foam from Althea Korea:

The product is placed in a squeeze tube container. It used to have an aluminum cover at the mouth of the tube to ensure freshness and to keep the products intact before use. One of my main concerns in purchasing Korean beauty and skin care products is the language used. I'm so relieved that the instructions and ingredients of this one are both in Korean and English. It also has an expiration date embedded at the top of the tube.

Details about the product in English

The product itself has an opaque white color. It has a pearly appearance to it. When applied to damp face, it turns into a creamy and milky foam wash. A little amount of product goes a long way in cleansing the face. But as for me, I'd like to use a generous amount of the cleansing foam. Too little won't give me the amount of foam that I want especially since I use it to remove dirt and makeup.

As regards performance, this one's effective in cleaning the face thoroughly. It will surely give you a squeaky clean feel. But I think it has the tendency to make my skin feel dry (especially my cheeks). I have to moisturize my face really well after using this. Thus, I only use this one at night. During mornings, I use a milder facial wash (Physiogel or Dermax Gel Cleanser) to keep my face moisturized and hydrated.

Generous amount of cleansing foam is needed to get this much foam
Instant brightening effect after use

It has a scent that I really love, but I am not sure if it actually smells like rice. Its scent is not too strong, but rather mild. By the way, be sure to keep the product out of your eye area or wash your face by the sink. It stings really bad once it touches the eyes. With regard to the brightening it claims, I wasn't able to see any significant effect. It was able to give my face an instant brightening glow though after every wash, but nothing permanent. I guess this one's not exactly the whitening product I was looking for then.

This product retails at Althea Korea for only P300 (from P414) for a 150 ml. tube. I think I got this one on sale for only P260 during their beta testing. At local The Face Shop branches, this one costs P350 (or P450?) for the same amount. I think it's a great buy because it could last you a long time. I've been using mine for more than 5 months now and it still contains about a little less than half the tube. Although it did not give me the brightening effect that I was looking for, it was excellent in cleansing the face even without a separate cleansing oil or gel. Be sure to tone and moisturize after use though.
