LBD & Onesies - PRETTIFIED!

Have you noticed my blog's new layout? I just wanted to cry whenever I see it. :') It's just so pretty! This one was made again by Nira Ballena of http://www.niraballena.blogspot.com who also made my previous blog layout. I did not actually ask for anything specific from Nira except for the colors which were lavender and mint green (my all time favorites!) and some details on the arrangement. I was just amazed on how pretty the blog ended up. The fonts and the colors all went great together. The arrangement was really neat as compared to the previous arrangement (which I unfortunately messed up). Again, she has exceeded my expectations! I honestly think my blog looked more professional with this new layout.

Nira even helped me make my business card. At first, I cannot understand why business cards are so important in blogging (since everything is actually done online). But since I wanted to take blogging seriously, I guess coming up with a business card is a huge step forward. :)

I hope you like my blog's new layout!

XO, Mish

PS, You may contact Nira at niraballena(at)yahoo(dot)com to have your blog layouts prettified as well. :)

Enjoy Unlimited Korean Barbeque at Matgalne Korean Restaurant

Everything Korean has become a hit in our country in just a short span of time: from series and music to makeup and skin care products. Nevertheless, it is undeniable that the best thing Koreans have introduced to us is their cuisine. Eating Korean food gives us such an experience that could make us feel like we are actually in Korea. We see more and more Korean restaurants all over the metro nowadays and one of the restaurants that offer that authentic Korean cuisine experience is Matgalne Korean Restaurant.

This cozy restaurant located in Kalayaan Ave. (super near A Venue mall!) offers nothing but real and yummy Korean food. In my opinion, the laid back ambiance makes you feel like just relaxing and indulging on authentic Korean cuisine with your colleagues after a long day at work. I am pretty sure that young professionals from the area frequents this place. What makes Matgalne Korean Restaurant different from other restaurants of the same kind is that they offer their dishes for such an unbelievably low price. Don't worry cause you're up for a definitely satisfying meal.

In Matgalne, Korean cuisine need not be expensive. They offer dinner buffet and unlimited pork belly and beef brisket during lunch. Your Korean dining experience is complete for just P299 - P399 per head. They also offer other Korean dishes ala carte. But for me, the buffet is more than enough to keep me full. :) Anyway, here are some of the numerous dishes that we had during their Bloggers' Night:

Japchae (Korean noodles)
More healthy veggies for the salad

Japchae would always be one of my favorite Korean dishes. I like it not because it was one of the first dishes that I have tried but because it is something that I could eat anytime. You can never have enough of these noodles. The best thing about Japchae in Matgalne is that you could always go back for more! Aside from such, there are also numerous buffet options such as egg pancakes of different sorts, kimbap, sweets for dessert, and more!

Beef brisket
Pork Belly!

The highlight of the night would definitely be rolling up your Pork Belly and Beef Brisket in the fresh and healthy greens as they would do it in Korea. I wish I did not have coffee prior the dinner because I felt like I was already full after just one round in the buffet table. I prefer the Beef Brisket more because it has less fat, but the pork belly also tasted really well. For me, this Korean specialty tastes clean and all good!

Korean Chicken Stew or Dakdoritang
Clear Seaweed Soup or Miyo Soup

Aside from the Beef Brisket, my favorite would definitely by the Korean Chicken Stew that Ms. Windy Park of Matgalne specially served for us. We were told that it tastes like adobo, but I liked this one better! It's a little bit spicy, but absolutely tasty! The seaweed soup was also a nice addition to our meal because of the clean taste. This soup is actually eaten by mothers after giving birth for at least one month to cleanse their bodies. Had I known of this when I gave birth, I would have given it a try!

This Korean dining experience was absolutely a blast! I cannot even move after indulging in Matgalne's Korean dishes lol. I believe that when we try out cuisine from other countries, it is the entire experience that we are after and I definitely was able to have a grasp of that Korean dining experience with Matgalne. Thank you for having us! :)

How To Go From Day To Night In An Instant!

Whether you are a student or a young professional, it is inevitable that you and your peers would go out to relax and have fun (especially on a Friday night). And usually, these happenings occur unexpectedly and without prior notice. Hence, you are often caught in a situation where you are not appropriately dressed or made up for a night out. So here are some tips to help you get ready for the night:

1. Intensify your makeup - Add more color and life to your face by putting on a no-fail red lipstick or sexy smokey eye makeup (but please not both!). False lashes could also beautify anyone in an instant. Perfect lashes are indeed irresistible!

2. Skip the office heels - This comfy pair must be left at the office. Instead, put on strappy flats for a laid back look or sexy pumps for that perfect party look!

3. Let your hair down (only if you have the hair for such, of course) - There's nothing more fun than letting your hair loose. I believe that an uptight do could also affect how you feel. In relation to that, I think that this would give us the relaxed feeling you are aiming for.

4. Trade your office blazer with a comfy cardigan - Cardigans are perfect for simplifying a conventional office look. It is important that you keep a cardigan in your locker or your bag. They're very useful especially now that it's getting chilly at night.

Not that I tolerate excessive partying, but I believe that sometimes we have to take a leave from our stressful lives. We need to just relax and have fun! Fortunately for us, we do not need to hit the malls to instantly vamp up our wardrobes and kikay kits. These items are actually available at Zalora Philippines and ready to be delivered right at your doorstep or your workplace. Their beauty section carries different items such as lipsticks, eyeshadows, falsies and more from brands like 4U2 Cosmetics, Collection Colour Cosmetics, Suesh, Wet and Wild, and more! Their clothing and shoes section carries literally everything you'll need, too!

Hope you learn something from this post! :)

Celebrating Pink Parlour Philippines' 1st Year Anniversary + Giveaway!

This October, Pink Parlour Philippines is celebrating their 1st year anniversary! I cannot believe that it has already been a year since they opened their first branch at SM North EDSA. Pink Parlour now has three branches all over the metro, the other two located at A Venue Mall and SM Pasig. The coming years would definitely be a success for Pink Parlour as they intend to open two more branches in the near future. They've indeed become such a hit in such a short span of time by being the preferred salon for brazilian waxing and spray tanning.

To celebrate their success with us, they are offering 50% discount on their famous Brazilian waxing and leg waxing services. I could personally attest to the great waxing services of Pink Parlour. My Brazilian (using their specialty hard wax) was done in less than 15 minutes and it did not even hurt that much. Their eyebrow waxing did not even hurt at all. Aside from that, they are very hygienic, too. No double dipping here at Pink Parlour! Anyway, this promo is valid from October 18 to 21 at their SM North EDSA branch only. Don't miss out on this great offering! :)

On top of that, Pink Parlour is giving away P500 GCs (which can be used on any service offered at Pink Parlour - mani, pedi, waxing, spray tanning, and more!) for 2 lucky readers of my blog. Just enter through the Rafflecopter app below. Winners will be chosen randomly, but must comply with all of the mandatory steps. :)

Good luck! :D

Planning For Z's 2nd Birthday

It's that time of the year again! Lol! I actually did not intend to have another party for Z's 2nd birthday this November, but my mom was insisting on having one. Hence, the spoiled grandson will have a party this year. With more than one month before the big day, I am now looking for suppliers (actually just for the cake, cause I plan to DIY everything else) for his birthday. I have to decide as soon as possible because most of the time suppliers are fully booked already even before weeks from our target dates. Anyway, here are some of the ideas that I came up with (which I based on my planning post from last year):

1. Venue
  • We'll have it again at Mcdonald's Regalado this year because it is the most convenient location we could book considering that my guests would be coming from the Quezon City/Manila area and we live in Bulacan. We were also very satisfied with their service during Z's first birthday party. The food was served on time and the guests, especially the kids, were entertained. The venue and meals are very affordable too as compared to other venues.

2. Theme

Photo from Google Images
  • Generally, I wanted a Race Car theme for Z's birthday cause he likes cars. Although I wanted to have a Sesame Street themed party, I think Z's not really into it anymore. I think the Sesame Street theme is more complicated, too. I am not sure if I'll use Cars (the movie) as the theme though cause Z's not really familiar with such.

3. Guest list
  • I have not finalize it yet. But we'll probably have reservations for 80 people again (which was the same number we reserved last year).

4. Costume

Photo from Google Images
  • Of course, Z will have to wear a race car costume. :D I am not sure where to get one, but I'll scout Quiapo and Divi first before resorting to online shops.

5. Invitations and Tarpaulin
  • I will force my sister to do the invites cause she's great with Photoshop and I'll probably send the invites again through a Facebook event. I'll send the invitations coming from Mcdonalds to the oldies. :)
  • We'll definitely use Mcdonald's tarpaulin again. It would save us a lot!

6. Souvenirs
  • For the kids, we'll be giving away the loot bags from Mcdonalds and we'll just probably add more goodies. For the adults, I wanted to get cupcakes (in a cupcake tower) this time. I'll try to look also for sponsors for some of the games during the party and giveaways for the adults. If you're interested in sponsoring, just hit me an email at starmishie(at)ymail(dot)com. :)

7. Cake Supplier
  • I am still looking for a cake supplier for this year's party. However if I won't be able to look for another supplier who could give me a better price, I'd probably stick with Ms. May of Sweetbox Specialty Pastries and Sweets

8. Photo Services
  • Last year's photos were quite a disaster. I am not sure if we'll still avail of photo services or if I'll just assign a permanent photographer (from among my sisters). What happened was we were all so busy that our helper ended up taking the photos during the event. Lol!

I am not particular with the decors cause I think they're just a waste of money. What is important for me is that the people who matter to me and Z are present in the party. But if you have any suggestions, just let me know through commenting below, or sending me an email at starmishie(at)ymail(dot)com, or sending me a tweet at @mishrendon. :D
