Celeteque DermoCosmetics (Product Swatch + First Impression)

A few weeks back, I was invited to the launch of the Celeteque DermoCosmetics at SM Makati. And as promised, I've come up with a first impression post of the products in the entire line. You'll see here the each and every product but only one shade for each. In a nutshell, Céleteque DermoCosmetics offers a full skincare regimen for the face, lips, cheeks, and eyes that protect the skin 24/7. It is definitely the best makeup line for everyday use. Céleteque DermoCosmetics is perfect for the modern-day woman, as it offers the best of both worlds: expert skincare solutions and superior color cosmetics that highlight one’s natural beauty.

Celeteque DermoCosmetics (Swatches + First Impression)

The Céleteque DermoCosmetics Anti-Aging line has all the bases covered to give you a youthful look. It has the Dual CC Matte Powder, the Dark Spot Concealer Stick, and the 24-hr Photoready Foundation that promise to keep your skin young-looking.

Celeteque DermoCosmetics (Swatches + First Impression) Dual CC Matte Powder

The Céleteque DermoCosmetics Dual CC Matte Powder (P749.00) keeps oily skin at bay with its 12-hour matte finish. Cinical studies have shown a significant decrease in skin oiliness from the first and second week of product usage, and it has also been proven to reduce fine lines to up to 42.87% when used for four weeks. It also contains Glutathione, Arbutin, and Mulberry, all of which inhibit melanin production and lighten skin color with regular use.  The Dual CC Matte Powder is also packed with collagen peptide, which maintains skin firmness and improves elasticity through increased collagen formation, as well as Tocopheryl Acetate, which promotes skin hydration. This multi-tasking product is also packed with color correcting pigments that even out skin tone, as well as SPF 30 to protect the skin from the sun’s harsh UVA rays, considered one of the primary culprits of aging. It comes in Light, Natural, and Beige.

The Céleteque DermoCosmetics 24-hour Photoready Foundation (P795.00) is another must-have, as it provides a smooth airbrush finish for 24 hours while concealing dark spots for all skin types. It has micro pigments and silicone elastomers that hide blemishes and dark circles. It’s also has Phytocelltec, a component harnessed from cutting-edge plant cell culture technology that has extensive anti-aging properties, making skin more supple and radiant every day. Just like the Dual CC Matte Powder, the 24-hour Photoready Foundation is also infused with Collagen Peptide, which reduces wrinkles and improves skin elasticity through regular use: Studies have shown that wrinkles were significantly reduced up to 41.31% through the fourth week of product usage.  Best of all, it has color-correcting pigments and SPF 30 that shield the skin from harmful UV rays. It comes in Light, Natural, and Beige.

The Céleteque DermoCosmetics Dark Spot Concealer Stick (P595.00) offers superior coverage for skin imperfections while protecting the skin from free radicals. It has glycolic acid that lightens uneven dark spots, ranging from blemishes, sun spots, and age spots. It has Cytobiol Lumin-eye, which efficiently reduces puffy eyebags within 15 days! The Dark Spot Concealer Stick also has moisturizing properties, thanks to Tocopheryl Acetate, which promotes skin hydration and improves over-all skin texture. It comes in Light, Natural, and Beige

I absolutely love the Anti-Aging line! The Céleteque DermoCosmetics Dark Spot Concealer Stick has a nice consistency. It's quite thick but can be easily blended. It also provides adequate coverage for spots on my face. I have yet to see how good it is in lessening puffy eye bags (which I obviously need). The Céleteque DermoCosmetics 24-hour Photoready Foundation, on the other hand, feels light on the skin. I have noticed too that it makes the face appear brighter upon application. The Céleteque DermoCosmetics Dual CC Matte Powder goes on smoothly and evenly on the skin. I love that it has SPF and it also helps lighten the skin. The best part is that all of these products provide anti-aging benefits! The only downside I could think of is the limited shades available. There are only three shades: Light, Natural, and Beige. I got the Natural shade and I find it too light for me.

The Céleteque DermoCosmetics Nourishing line, on the other hand, has products that care for and nourish even the more sensitive parts of our face. For the eyes, it has the Eyebrow Nourishing Serum as well as the 24-hour Volumizer Mascara. Also part of the line are the Cheek Color Stick, Matte Lip Stick, Blush and Face Contour Kit that livening up the face with vivid colors while bringing out the skin’s radiant glow.

Celeteque DermoCosmetics (Swatches + First Impression) Blush and Face Contour Kit

Highlight the cheeks with the Céleteque DermoCosmetics Blush and Face Contour Kit (P845.00), which addresses all contouring needs while nourishing the skin. The 3-in-1 kit is composed of easy to blend blush powder, cheek luminizer, and contour blush that are packed with mineral gems (diamond, tourmaline, and sapphire) and mica that exfoliate the skin and make it glow. This key makeup kit product is slated to be a favorite between both makeup newbies and makeup pros as the palette can create subtle angles and shadows that naturally shape the face.  It’ll truly help get you 2X beautiful with the proper highlighting and lowlighting—just like how our fave celebrities do it! This Blush and Face Contour Kit also has castor oil that acts as an anti-aging anti-oxidant, as well as vitamins A, E, F, H, and B, which keep the skin healthy and protect it from irritation. It comes in Pink and Peach.

Celeteque DermoCosmetics (Swatches + First Impression) Blush and Face Contour Kit
Céleteque DermoCosmetics Blush and Face Contour Kit in Pink

I am no pro in doing makeup so I love how easy is the Céleteque DermoCosmetics Blush and Face Contour Kit to use. Again, there are limited shades: Pink and Peach. But I think these would be adequate for everyday use. The colors are very vivid with just little amount of product. I think this product would last me long. I am excited to play more with this one. It makes contouring seem so simple!

Celeteque DermoCosmetics (Swatches + First Impression) Blush and Face Contour Kit

The multi-tasking Céleteque DermoCosmetics Cheek Color Stick (P645.00) is a must-have in every kikay kit, as it easily highlights, brightens, illuminates, conditions, and adds color to the cheeks, lips, and even eyes. It keeps the skin hydrated, thanks to the moisturizing properties of vitamin E and sweet almond oil. Got dry skin? The Cheek Color Stick also has Bisabolol, an essential oil from the German Chamomile plant, which reduces flakiness brought about by dry skin. It also reduces fine lines to up to 49.89% upon the fourth week of usage. It comes in Pink and Peach.

The long-wearing Céleteque DermoCosmetics Matte Lip Stick (P595.00) provides easy coverage and a pop of color while providing hydration for the lips. It glides easily on the lips and does not leave a waxy finish. Just like the Cheek Color Stick, the Matte Lip Stick is packed with Vtamin E and Bisabolol that nourish the lips and reduce suppleness while getting rid of flaky skin. It comes in Cherry, Pink, and Peach.

Celeteque DermoCosmetics (Swatches + First Impression) Matte Lip Stick
Céleteque DermoCosmetics Matte Lip Stick in Cherry

The Céleteque DermoCosmetics Cheek Color Stick is definitely a must-have for everyday use! It is simple to use and can add so much life and color to one's face. The one I got is the Peach shade and it kinds of disappear in my skin. I think it would best match women with fair skin. It gives a nice sheen though  to my cheeks that I like. The Céleteque DermoCosmetics Matte Lip Stick is one of my favorites among the bunch! It has a bright cherry color. This lippie is truly matte. It tugs quite a bit when applied and can be drying after some time so it is important to put on some lip balm before applying. I'm not a fan of the packaging though because it doesn't swivel all the way and I tend to damage the product every time I carelessly close it.

Celeteque DermoCosmetics (Swatches + First Impression)

Give the brows much-needed TLC with the Céleteque DermoCosmetics Eyebrow Nourishing Serum (P595.00). It has Biotinyl Tripeptide-1, which makes the brows stronger and healthier. Other ingredients like Panthenol and Pro-vitamin B5 also nourish the hair follicles, while making the skin softer and smoother.

Make your lashes the talk of the town with the Céleteque DermoCosmetics 24-hour Volumizer Mascara (P645.00). Its revolutionary formula promises fuller lashes for 24 hours. It has Acrylates Copolymer, which holds lashes longer while preventing annoying clumps and smudges. It’s also powered with Aloe Barbadensis Leaf juice, which not only promotes the skin’s water retention but also protects the eyes from bacteria. The 24-hour Volumizer Mascara also comes with an innovative retractable brush that reaches even the smallest lashes, giving an even and fuller look with a smooth finish.

Celeteque DermoCosmetics (Swatches + First Impression) 24 Hour Volumizer Mascara
Céleteque DermoCosmetics 24-hour Volumizer Mascara

I haven't tried the Céleteque DermoCosmetics Eyebrow Nourishing Serum yet. It is advisable to use it twice daily so I think I'll be using it as a clear brow gel. The Céleteque DermoCosmetics 24-hour Volumizer Mascara performs really well! It truly is waterproof! It doesn't clump much when used. The product itself is not quick drying so you'll have to wait a while after applying. The wand is easy to use and covers the tiniest of the lashes.

Overall, the entire Celeteque DermoCosmetics line has so much to offer when it comes to everyday makeup. Just like the packaging of these products, they are simple and clean, yet promising. As regards the price, I could say that these are adequately priced as they perform really well and would last you long. Céleteque DermoCosmetics is available in select Watsons Beauty Stores. United Nations Parade + Where to Buy UN Costumes at Quiapo

Zack had his first United Nations parade a few days ago. South American countries were assigned to his class and we chose for him to represent Brazil that day. Actually, I wanted him to don an Ecuadorian traditional costume but I wasn't able to find a poncho-type costume when I was in Quiapo. So I opted for a traditional festive type Brazilian costume for Zack instead. I think it went really well!

If you are looking for traditional costumes for United Nations or Linggo ng Wika, Quiapo is definitely the place to visit! There are two known locations that sells costumes. The first location is at Evangelista St. From Paterno St. (the street before Quiapo Church), just take a left to Evangelista St. From there up to Quiapo Church, you'll see the stalls that sells costumes. There are probably at least 10 stalls that sells various costumes. The second location is at Palanca St. This one's near Excellente Ham and SM Quiapo. From Quezon Bridge, the stalls are located in the right side of the street (almost at the corner of Palanca and Villalobos Sts.). There are lesser stalls at Palanca though. When looking for costumes, just tell them the country that you need and they'll give you suggestions because obviously they don't have costumes on hand for each and every country. They usually have more options for girls though so it won't be a problem to look for costumes for girls. They likewise sells costumes for adults, head dresses, and other accesories. Prices start from P300.

I got the costume from a stall at Palanca. Everything, including the hat, costed me around P500. But I think if you haggle better, you could get better prices. There are also flags available there but I opted to DIY his Brazil flag. Anyway, I cannot remember similar events like this when I was in school. But it's definitely fun to make Zack wear adorable costumes because I think he's in his cutest stage. :p Hope this post entertains and helps you!

Authentic Katsu and More at Saboten Japanese Cutlet

I am a huge fan of Japanese cuisine! However, there are times when I crave for a katsu or ebi fry or tempura and I don't get truly satisfied because the ones that I have tried doesn't taste authentic. Either the ingredients are compromised or it wasn't prepared the way it was supposed to be prepared. To save yourself from such disappointment, it is best to go to katsu places that originated from Japan and that is what Saboten is all about!

Saboten, which literally translates to "Cactus" in Japanese, is one of the largest Tonkatsu chains in Japan with over 500 shops in Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, Singapore, Hongkong, Canada, China, and now, the Philippines. It originated in the neighborhood of Shinjuku, Tokyo in 1966 and has been serving the "Original Tastes of Tonkatsu" for more than 40 years now.

There are currently two Saboten branches here in the Philippines - one in Serendra, BGC, Taguig and another in Glorietta 5, Makati. The one I visited a few days back was their Glorietta branch. It wasn't exactly easy to locate because it is found outside of the mall fronting Office Drive/Glorietta 4 Park. Nevertheless, their Glorietta branch is quite spacious and can accommodate up to 80 people. As regards the design, everything's neat and minimalist. I was told that the materials used for the seats, etc. were flown in from Japan.

Basically, Saboten's menu, as I have earlier mentioned, is all about tonkatsu. But they also serve all sorts of variations of such, appetizers, desserts, and drinks to complement your tonkatsu dishes. Since Saboten's a franchise from Japan, all dishes served are ensured to be authentic and traditional Japanese dishes.

Strawberry Yakult - P175

From among their wide range of Saboten Smoothies, I tried their Strawberry Yakult variant. This drink was very refreshing! It wasn't too sweet and the strawberry and yakult went well together. I would've gone for their Watermelon Wasabi smoothie but I was scared to try it then. That one's definitely on my list for my next visit!

Creamy Green Tea - P225
Four Seasons and Yakult - P175

For our appetizers, we had Agedashi Tofu and Maguro Tsukudani. Between the two, the Agedashi was the winner for me! The tofu is soft inside yet crispy on the outside. Surprisingly, it stays firm after taking a bite. This one has a fresh flavor that would surely enhance your appetite.

Agedashi - P175
Maguro Tsukudani - P125

The Maguro Tsukudani, on the other hand, is a simple tuna appetizer. This one's cooked in claypot and infused with ginger and sauce. This one's really tasty! I was actually amazed at how simple this one is made, yet it has so much flavor. I think this one would also go well with rice as a viand.

Sweet and Sour Chicken Nanban - P475 (as set)

We likewise tried some of the dishes which were made part of their menu for a limited time only. The Sweet and Sour Chicken Nanban was really delightful to eat. The coated chicken was tender on the inside. The skin was crispy and the sauce was great. It is served with a dip, but I think it's good on its own.

Ginger Pork Shogayaki with Sweet Radish Steak - P495 (as set)

The Ginger Pork Shogoyaki dish was also great! I am really not a fan of dishes infused with ginger, but this one's tolerable for me. It actually enjoyed this one. The slices of pork are very tender and the sauce is very tasty. The serving is generous, too. I believe this one would be enough for two people.

Deep Fried Oyster Sharing Set - P1575

The highlight of our meal was the Deep Fried Oyster Sharing Set. This one contains two deep fried oysters, two deep fried shrimps, one loin cutlet, and one rolled cutlet. It also comes with unlimited shredded cabbage, pickles, radish, rice, and miso soup. Menu says it's good for two but I think this would be adequate to feed three to four people. The serving is indeed hefty!

The set comes with an aioli dip but everything also goes well with their katsu sauce. The oysters, which are imported from Hiroshima, Japan, were really delicious. The size of the oysters are ginormous. It tastes fresh and clean. Surprisingly, the oysters were really juicy yet the outer layer is very crunchy and yummy. I believe this one is best eaten when still warm so make those Instagram pictures quick! ;)

Tenderloin Set - P440 for L, P410 for M, and P390 for S

We also tried their Tenderloin which is the signature dish of Saboten. What differs Tenderloin from Loin is that the former is pure lean meat while the latter has a layer of fat in it. Since I am no healthy eater, I prefer the latter more because the layer of fat gives off another flavor and texture for me to enjoy. I suggest you have this if it's your first time to eat at Saboten.

Deep Fried Oyster - P195

The deep fried oysters can also be availed of individually and I think this would go well with their wide range of Japanese beer! :D By the way, Saboten in Glorietta offers unlimited local beers for only P499 from 4pm to 7pm during Mondays to Fridays.

As I have previously mentioned, all set meals available at Saboten include unlimited shredded cabbage, pickles, rice, and miso soup.  Personally, I enjoyed the shredded cabbage with their special sauce.

As a mom, I prefer restaurants which I know my kid would enjoy. Japanese cuisine isn't necessarily something that the kids would love but Saboten has made it exactly just that. My little boy love everything fried and the kids meal at Saboten would surely grab his attention. Aside from the adorable presentation, the kids meal contains one tenderloin cutlet, one crab cream croquette, french fries, and orange juice to make sure your kid is full.

Kids Set - P275

Moreover, you could also get a free kids set voucher to be used on your next visit for every P1000 you spend. Your kid, who must be 10 years old and below, will be served chicken karaage, rice, french fries, miso soup, and drink as shown in the photo above.

Chocolate Hazelnut Cream Cake - P195

Saboten also boasts of delectable desserts that will go perfectly with your tonkatsu meal. The Chocolate Hazelnut Cream Cake is definitely a favorite! It has creamy hazelnut inside while the outer part has a rich chocolate flavor.

Matcha Lychee Almond Cake - P210

Matcha Lychee Almond Cake was something new to my taste. Suprisingly, everything went well together. Upon biting, it is the lychee flavor that kicks in and the matcha flavor is that one that lingers. It is one dessert that should be tried by matcha green tea lovers!

Strawberry Shortcake - P195

The Strawberry Shortcake is another awesome dessert to try. It isn't as sweet as your normal cake, but the flavor and texture of the cake is really enjoyable. Another strawberry dish that should be tried at Saboten is the Strawberry Parfait. This one has loads of vanilla ice cream, strawberry flavor, and cream. Definitely one of the best ways to end you meal!

Strawberry Parfait - P195

If you are looking for authentic tonkatsu that you and your family could enjoy, visit Saboten Japanese Cutlet at their Serendra, BGC, Taguig and Glorietta 5, Makati branches. This katsu place will definitely not disappoint with their authentic and traditional Japanese dishes. :)
