Sunshine Kitchen at The Fort Strip

I have to admit that the BGC area is filled with unique and great places to eat. Thus, it is sometimes hard to decide where to eat especially when you're not familiar with the area. With that, I'd rather go to some place that my friends recommend and one of the restaurants that I've heard from my friends is the Sunshine Kitchen. They cannot stop talking about the Truffled 4 Cheese Pasta with Smoked Bacon (although they can no longer remember the entire name of the dish :p). Luckily, I was invited to a lunch event at Sunshine Kitchen to try out this dish and the rest of their dishes!

The place just looks very inviting and cozy. During day time, the area appears bright and pleasant as the sun comes in through their huge glass walls. I'm not sure though how the place looks like at night as they offer wines and cocktails.

Don't know which dish to order? Here's a guide for you!
Crispy Medley of Cheese Balls with Pimento Puree and Marinara Sauce - P290

The appetizer dish that we have tried is the Crispy Medley of Cheese Balls with Pimento Puree and Marinara Sauce. It is a mix of 4 different cheeses with pimento puree in the middle. Upon tasting, I was able to taste the distinct pimento puree inside already. This one's definitely not your ordinary cheese ball!

Artichoke and Mushroom Pizza - P550

I love homemade pizzas! I love it when my pizza's freshly made and not soaked in oil. So this Artichoke and Mushroom Pizza is one of the best dishes that I tried at Sunshine Kitchen. This one's definitely made with fresh ingredients - white sauce, mushrooms, mozarella, ricotta, artichokes, and onions - so it's guaranteed healthy!

Porkichoo's Sandwich - P390

Another healthy meal at Sunshine Kitchen is the Porkichoo's Sandwich. It is composed of 6-hour slow roast Porchetta on a crisp ciabatta bread, with roasted garlic and green onion salsa, mozzarella cheese, arugula and crispy pork skin. It is best eaten with a slathering of garlic aioli and mustard. I'd rather eat this one with my hands cause it's quite huge.

Pan Fried Sole in White Wine and Caper Sauce with Tomatoes - P390

There was a time when the only thing I would ate was fish. This Pan Fried Sole in White Wine and Caper Sauce with Tomatoes is something that I could everyday! I love how clean and fresh this one tasted.

6 Hour Slow Roast Porchetta - P550

The 6-Hour Slow Roast Porchetta is Sunshine Kitchen's signature dish. It is composed of Porchetta roasted in a mix of herbs and spices on low heat for 6 hours and served with rice pilaf and French beans. It is also served with three dipping sauces: gravy, vinaigrette, and roasted garlic and herb salsa. I liked the roasted garlic and herb salsa dip the most. The meat is very tender and that crispy skin is to die for!

Beer Braised Beef Belly - P490

Forget it if I have previously said "melts in my mouth" in my previous food reviews. This Beer Braised Beef Belly just outdone them all!  It is a beef belly dish simmered till tender in Cerveza Negra, served swimming in gravy and sour cream, with mashed potatoes and sauteed vegetables on the side. I cannot believe how the beef literally melted in my mouth. I love the texture of the mashed potatoes as well.

Angus Steak with Eggs Benedict

One of their new additions to their menu is the Angus Steak with Eggs Benedict. Nope, this dish is not your typical breakfast meal. The Angus steak is tender. Together with the rice and egg, this dish is indeed a good hearty meal.

Truffled 4 Cheese Pasta with Smoked Bacon - P420

Another favorite is the Truffled 4 Cheese Pasta with Smoked Bacon! I now know why this dish is the bomb. It has 4 different types of cheese - provolone, grana padana, brie, and mozzarella. Together with the smoked bacon, you'll find yourself not wanting to stop eating this dish. Though quite heavy on the stomach, I think I could finish one whole serving. :p

Cabanatuan Longganisa Paella with 2 Fried Eggs - P480

Lastly, we had Cabanatuan Longganisa Paella with 2 Fried Eggs. This is one of the most popular dishes in Sunshine Kitchen. Unlike other paella dishes, this one has sweet Cabanatuan longganisa on it. The paella takes time to cook, but it is definitely worth the wait!

Toblerone and Cheese Crisp - P260

As for desserts, we had the Toblerone and Cheese Crisp and the Key Lime Pie Ice Cream. I am surprised that both aren't the typical, extremely sweet desserts. Both of these desserts has the right amount of sweetness to cleanse your palette after eating all those main dishes. Between the two, my favorite would definitely be the Key Lime Pie Ice Cream. It is very creamy, not too sweet, and with a hint of lime. This one's also sold for a pint for only P480.
Key Lime Pie Ice Cream - P240

Looking back on all the dishes that we had, I felt like those dishes were something that are served on a Sunday lunch with your family at home. Good thing, we could go back to those moments everyday with these dishes from Sunshine Kitchen.

As for their current promos, they have lunch sets at P399 available on weekdays which include the Pan Fried Sole Fish, Beer Braised Beef Belly, 6 Hour Slow Roast Porchetta, and Fried Chicken with Ragu Papardelle. These lunch sets are inclusive of a Soup or a Salad, Meal, and House Brewed Iced Tea. They also have a Wine All You Can Promo,  Mondays to Fridays at P599 from 6-9pm.

Visit Sunshine Kitchen at 2nd Floor Fort Pointe Bldg 1, The Fort Strip, Global City. They are open from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 2:00 am everyday.

  1. Oh wow all the dishes presented here looked really good, but I wary about the prices. I think they're expensive. Then again, trying them might change my perspective as the price for value may be worth considering. :)

    1. I agree. The dishes are quite expensive. But then, I think that their dishes are worth the money. I guess Sunshine Kitchen is something you could visit when you really wanted to splurge. :)
