Socialized housing is a concept not new to me since this was the topic that I chose for my undergraduate thesis, particularly the condition of low cost socialized housing projects in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. From what I have gathered and researched, settlers tend to leave their place of relocation because their jobs aren't there and the shelter granted to them was poorly made. I am extremely glad that one construction company, GMG Construction & Land Development Corporation, has finally decided to address these usual problems when it comes to socialized housing projects by coming up with a new low cost socialize housing project in Norzagaray, Bulacan.
12 hectare proposed socialized housing project by GWG Construction |
During an event last week at Quezon City, I was one of the first to know about this promising project. The low cost socialized housing project is envisioned by GMG Construction through Socialized Housing Financing Corp of the Philippine government. It is a 12 hectare project that seeks to benefit families living in danger zones of Norzagaray and Manila. The project is currently being coordinated with the local government of Norzagaray, Bulacan.

The initial target number of housing units for Phase 1 and 2 is 2,640. Each lot area is at 26 sqm with structure ground area of 22 sqm and mezzanine/loft area of 11sqm. The project will allot 30% open space which can be used for school building, multi-purpose hall and recreation/amenities like basketball court and playground.
Proposed plan for the lofted row housing |
I am absolutely impressed with the proposed plan for the housing project. The design is far from any of the low cost socialized housing projects which I have previously visited. Moreover, the project aims to comply with land development standards such as proper water and power supply and drainage system and to provide community facilities such as covered basketball court/ multi-purpose center, day care center, and tricycle terminal. I am definitely looking forward for this project to finally materialize.
XO, Mish
