New Prescription Glasses c/o Firmoo

My eyesight has never really gotten better ever since I started law school. Thankfully, it did not become worse. This isn't the first time I'll be featuring Firmoo.com on my blog because they sent me my very first prescription glasses more than 2 years ago when I was still a newbie blogger. Unfortunately, I lost the pair they sent me a year ago.

This time, I'll be featuring their Unisex Full-Frame Acetate Eyeglasses in Clear and Tortoise. As usual, I had a hard time picking a pair. What I had in mind is a pair that is not any similar to any pair I have worn before and something smaller in size so that it won't fall off my face. Luckily, Firmoo's website is easy to navigate. You could limit your choices by choosing from the different categories (by shapes, by material, by frame, by size) they have come up with.

Initially, I thought that the casing of Firmoo has improved. From what used to be a clear plastic casing, they have come up with a more chic and sturdy casing with a nice map print. I love the felt-like inner lining, as well. As usual, the glasses also came with an eyeglasses bag, micro-fiber lens cloth, and one screwdriver.

Ordering at Firmoo's website is very simple: just pick a pair that you want; choose if it is for prescription, fashion, or reading; place your prescription, if applicable; select the thickness of the lens; choose some add-ons (anti-scratch, uv coating, tint, anti-radiation); and confirm your order. Of course, you could always make use of their try-on system so you'll know how the glasses would look like on you without having to actually try them on.

I was indeed very happy with my pair. I've never had clear glasses before and I've been wanting a tortoise print glasses for so long. This pair is just the perfect combination of the two! It took around three weeks before they arrived at my local post office, though I think they actually arrived a week or two after I placed my order. Nevertheless, this pair still came in before my birthday. :)

The only thing that I didn't really like about this pair is that I thought it would be tad bigger when I ordered it. It turned out to be really small as compared to my previous glasses. I had some difficulties adjusting to this one but it didn't take that long. The nice thing about it being small is that it doesn't droop down my nose. The fit is just perfect! Anyway, here are some photos of me wearing my new glasses:

This pair costs only $39 and I could say that it is very affordable considering the design, fit, and material of the glasses. The cheapest pair I found in the mall costs around P1000 (more or less $20) and the frame isn't that appealing. At least with Firmoo, you could get the latest designs at the cheapest price without compromising quality. Visit Firmoo.com now to choose a pair from their vast collection of prescription and non-prescription glasses and sunglasses! Like them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter.

The Skin Specialist welcomes its 12th anniversary with the Eraser Laser

It was a joyous evening for The Skin Specialist as it celebrated its 12th year anniversary. People from the press, celebrities, and loyal patients of The Skin Specialist graced the event held at the Cities Events Place last October 22nd. The Skin Specialist, which used to be a small clinic located at Timog Avenue, has grown into an elite clinic in Quezon City and is now equipped with more than 50 machine treatments. During its anniversary celebration, it launched its newest machine - the Eraser Laser.

Dr. Jean Marquez, founder and medical director of The Skin Specialist

Before the program itself started, everyone was treated to great food and drinks, nice music (by Powerhouse band and Mr. Joey G of Side A band), and awesome conversation with new friends.

Several booths offering beauty and skin care products in support of The Skin Specialist's anniversary

The Eraser Laser, as pointed out by host Issa Litton, is an embodiment of beauty and magic into one machine. Why? Because it is able to erase dark parts of the face and the body quickly, effortlessly, and painlessly. The Eraser Laser is the latest Q-switch Nd:Yag pigment lightening laser to enter the country. Q-switch Nd:YAG laser devices are well established in aesthetic medicine as state-of-the-art skin rejuvenation tools.

Designed for Asian skin, the Eraser Laser uses the next generation technology, Rich PTP (Photo-acoustic Toning Pulse) which is able to harness, control and maintain the powerful Nd:YAG, resulting in safer and more effective treatment of pigmented lesions such as melasma, scars and freckles as well as dark areas of the body like underarms, groin area, under the eyes, lips, feet, birthmarks and tattoos. This technology selectively targets and shatters pigmented lesions.

So what makes this product differ from other pigment lightening machines? It boasts of new and upgraded technologies that make it safer and more effective, especially for Asian skin. First, its RICH PTP or Photoacoustic Toning Pulse delivers the energy into two pulses instead of one burst of power making it safer but without compromising its power. It provides easier and faster treatment that prevents burns, scarring and tissue damage.  Second, the Eraser Laser’s Top Hat technology delivers energy evenly along the surface of the skin, making the procedure safer and virtually painless for melasma and Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation. Finally, its equal beam size and energy maintains the stability of energy output regardless of the distance of the handpiece from the skin surface. The Eraser Laser’s laser energy is constant, producing consistent and accurate results.

Today, more and more people are inquiring about the treatment, largely due to word of mouth testimonies of satisfied patients. Some celebrities have this to say about the Eraser Laser:

“Only one session and my skin was renewed. Even my shave burns disappeared,” says one TV host.

“I am amazed with the instant result of Dr. Jean’s treatment for pigmentation. My sun spots were lightened and it also improved my skin texture,” says another public figure.

“It really does work like an eraser! It’s great! And the best part is that it’s painless and the procedure doesn’t take long,” attests a prominent broadcast journalist.

Uses next generation technology, designed for Asian skin, no downtime, and less painful. Think this is too good to be true? Visit The Skin Specialist now to find out yourself! Thank you, The Skin Specialist and Dr. Jean, for having me! Can't wait to try this one out soon. :)

Brew Your Best Year this 2015 with CBTL's Giving Journal

I am a planner person (if there's such one). I prefer keeping and maintaining a planner instead of using my phone to help me keep track of my schedule. I'd rather write every single task that I aim to accomplish for the day and I love having to cross them one by one at the end of the same. As such, I look forward to the all the planners that gets released every year. After attending the launch of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf's Giving Journal launch last Saturday, I am now convinced to have it as my planner for 2015.

Every year, in the months leading up to Christmas, The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf releases its coveted Giving Journal around a holiday campaign benefiting the Real Life Foundation, and every year, the company makes it a goal to create something better than the last, constantly evolving the journal to share the company’s passion for GIVING, SHARING, and COMMUNITY.

For 2015, the theme of the Giving Journal is to provide the inspiration to create OVERFLOWS in one’s life. The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf desires for all of us to thrive and live in abundance when it comes to developing personal fulfillment & growth, strong relationships, and a joyful spirituality. To give to others, one must first have something to give, and the Giving Journal empowers us to become the best versions of ourselves.

I actually missed the first Giving Journal launch event where some of my blogger friends were present. Luckily, I was able to attend the next one held a few days after. What I love about this batch of attendees is that we all share something in common - great love for CBTL. My newly found friends and I kept on sharing what our favorite drink is or why CBTL feels like home to us. It is nice to meet people who share the same passion as you. :)

As part of the Giving Journal launch held at The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf 26th Street Bistro in Taguig, we were asked to make a wire bookmark. The bookmark must have something to do with a word or symbol to inspire you in making 2015 your best year yet. I think most of us were not familiar with wire art. I even feared that I lacked creativity. :p Luckily, we were taught by only the best, Craft Manila.

For my bookmark, I chose the word "courage" as my inspiration for 2015. As I have explained in my Instagram post (@mishrendon), I was able to accomplish everything that I have accomplished through courage. Most of the time, things seem impossible to do and with that, there's so much doubt and fear in us. There's always that fear of failure, of the unknown, and of things that are beyond our control. With courage, we could be strong enough to face anything that comes our way and to at least try to do things that seem impossible to us. Anyway, here's my winning entry

The Giving Journal 2015 comes in 4 fun colors - green, orange, purple, and brown. I definitely have my eyes set on purple! These are all available starting October 25, 2014 until January 11, 2015. To avail of the Giving Journal, all you have to get complete a single stamp card. Each card contains 12 circles corresponding to 12 drinks that must be availed of: (1) Original Ice Blended; (1) Tea Latte; (1) Espresso/Coffee-based Beverage; (1) Holiday Featured Beverage (Winter Dream Tea Latte or Red Velvet); and any (8) Original Ice Blended, Espresso/Coffee-based or Tea-based Beverages, or Frozen Swirl.
.

The best thing about the Giving Journal is that The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf brings the spirit of the Giving Journal to life through partnerships with various social organizations and championing volunteerism through their Customers and Team Members. The company has raised more than P10M for a number of advocacies since 2008, but more importantly, has been able to create much needed awareness for truly worthy endeavors like Habitat for Humanity and Real LIFE Foundation. Since its humble beginnings, the Real LIFE Foundation has financially assisted more than 1,000 scholars and produced over 200 university graduates.

Let us make 2015 our best year yet! :)

Slammin Mini Burgers + Fries + Dips at Trinoma Mall

I am constantly on the look for the best burger joint, not having been able to try it for so long. Being a vegetarian for six years, I sometimes feel like I've missed out on so much. So far, there's only one joint that I frequent ever since I stopped being a vegetarian. Good thing I was introduced to Slammin' Mini Burgers so I could add another one to my list of favorites.

Slammin Mini Burgers + Fries + Dips at Trinoma Mall

Upon seeing their menu, I had this feel that I've seen them before. Yup! They were the same Slammer Burgers joint - just totally revamped and upgraded! I remember Slammer Burgers having a branch at SM Fairview when I was in college. All I could order then was fish and chips. Now, I could finally taste their mini burgers!

Slammin Mini Burgers + Fries + Dips at Trinoma Mall

Slammin' Mini Burgers differ from other joints obviously because of the size of their burgers. But do not underestimate these burgers. “Mini” doesn’t mean bite-sized; in fact, two Mini Burgers add up to more than your average quarter-pound burger, and three is more than a 1/3-pound burger. What's nice about this mini sized burgers is that they're good for sharing. The proportions are just enough, too. You could just eat one (or two) more burgers if you still have room in your tummy.

Aside from their (not so) mini burgers, Slammin Mini Burgers offers sides such as Beer Battered Fish and Chips and Slammin Wings. They also offer the limited edition Black Box Series which are only on the menu for six months. These are definitely not your ordinary burgers. As of now, they offer the John Candy topped with salted caramel, sautéed onions, melted cheddar, and bacon; the Romeo and Juliet with bacon, melted cheese, strawberry jam, and salted butter; and The Big Kahuna with pineapple chunks, sriracha mayo, teriyaki glaze, melted cheddar, and bacon.

During my recent trip to Slammin Mini Burgers in Trinoma (one of their 3 branches), I was able to try out their Slammin Trio with Medium Fries and Dip and Slammin Buffalo Wings. I also had this urge to try all these adorable drinks!
