I frequent Fairview Terraces almost every weekend and I have my Instagram account to prove that. However, I haven't been able to try any of the restaurants situated there (most of which sounds new to me). I know you will agree with me when I say that we have this inclination to try something out simply because of how crowded that place is. And based on my observations, one of the most packed restaurants in Fairview Terraces is the Dekada Historic Filipino Cuisine Restaurant.
Before we get to the good part, let us get to know Dekada more. Dekada Historic Filipino Cuisine Restaurant opened its first branch in time for last year's Independence Day. It is part of the popular restaurant group owned by Ricky Laudico, Marvin Agustin, and Raymond Magdaluyo. Dekada serves as a tribute to historic events and places and you will notice that right away from the dishes that they are serving. Currently, they have a branch at Fairview Terraces and at Glorietta 3.
Before I fell in love with Dekada's dishes, the interior of the restaurant first caught my attention. I have noticed that it is filled with modern and historic details - from the intricately designed lights in the ceilings, photos of our national heroes, and witty and inspiring posters. I believe that you won't miss this place because they have this huge Dekada sign fronting the mall's main entrance.
As regards the dishes, Dekada's are not your ordinary Filipino dishes. They made sure that you won't be able to have this dishes in any other Filipino restaurant despite the similarities in denomination. And my photos do not do these food any justice because they are definitely yummier than they appear in the photos.

Sikatuna (Shrimp and Davao Pomelo Salad) - P278 |
The first dish that we had was the Shrimp and Davao Pomelo Salad. This one has shrimp, Davao pomelo, quail eggs, and celery, among others. I actually have never had this combination before and it was surprisingly great. All of the ingredients are guaranteed fresh, too.
|
Agustino (Bagoong Rice) - P328 |
I love how Dekada's fried rice platters can be a meal by itself. This Bagoong rice has shrimp paste on it plus grilled liempo, green mango slices, and scrambled eggs on top. The grilled liempo is very tasty while the green mangoes compliment well the adequate saltiness of the rice.
|
Gomburza (Ox-Tail and Tripe Kare-Kare) - P348 |
This Kare-kare is just wow! I have noticed how other restaurants skimp on their ingredients (hence, less meat and more veggies), but Dekada's Kare-kare is loaded with very tender ox-tail and tripe parts! I love how the sauce is very rich, too.
|
Franciscano (Dilis Rice) - P268 |
This Dilis rice platter is definitely my favorite. I probably took two or three servings of this one cause it's just that good. The combination of the rice, scrambled eggs, and dilis is perfect. It is reminiscent of a great breakfast meal. And yes, I'd eat this one on its own.
|
Seguela (Crispy Pata) - 669 |
Dekada's Crispy Pata is the bomb! Boneless crispy patas have become a trend nowadays and I now know why. Nothing's put to waste with this dish as you get to eat every single thing. Dekada's Crispy Pata is just super yummy! It comes with this equally yum soy sauce dip. And I love how the pork skin noisily cracks inside my mouth as I munch on it. ❤

Sakay (Bicol Express) - P298 |
Initially, I couldn't figure out how this dish could be denominated as Bicol Express until I tasted the sauce. I am used to Bicol Express being sauteed so this dish was quite a surprise. But it was a good surprise cause the combination of the crispy pork and the bicol express sauce is really good. Plus, the sauce is not too spicy for my liking.

Rizal (Lechon Manok) - P298 for half, P578 for whole |
Every Filipino meal is just not complete without lechon manok! And if I could describe Dekada's Lechon Manok in just one word, it would definitely be tender. The meat's juicy and tasty and it melts in your mouth.
|
Puto Bumbong with Cheese - P148 for 4 pcs. |
It's been a while since I last ate Puto Bumbong and it indeed brought nice memories from my childhood. Dekada's Puto Bumbong is very dense. I love how this dessert is smothered in butter and you could have it with cheese, muscovado sugar, and coconut.
|
Proclamation No. 1081 (Buko Halo-halo Espesyal) - P138 |
When this Buko Halo-Halo Espesyal dessert came out of the kitchen, I became excited and giddy. All the colors in it are just too pretty! I actually had fun preparing this dessert. I had mine with lots of milk!
|
EDSA (Milo Godzilla) - P168 |
Another favorite of mine is the Milo Godzilla drink which could pass off as a dessert. I actually did not drink it until I finished eating. This one has the right amount of sweetness which I absolutely love!
I love how Filipino dishes could make us reminisce of our good childhood days. And having that experience at Dekada makes it extra special. After spending time for lunch at Dekada, I now know why this place is always packed. It has great food and nice ambiance. But more importantly, it helps you reminisce about good old memories and create tons of great new ones!
