What's New at Pink Parlour

I've always loved Pink Parlour. Aside from its superb waxing, tanning, and nail services, it offers a warm and relaxing place where everyone gets to be treated like a princess (or a prince). There's something about the fancy pink walls, furniture, and decors that make one feel instantly special about himself or herself. I guess that's what sets Pink Parlour apart from other nail and waxing salons. Anyway, it has been a while since I last paid Pink Parlour a visit. I think it was for my Gel Mani and Pedi. A few days back, I dropped by Pink Parlour for a relaxing mani and pedi. Here are some of the changes that I am sure everyone would look forward to:

1. Neater and brighter SM North branch

They recently renovated their SM North branch and I personally loved it. Everything looks so neat and polished! Although there was less pink, I think the brighter lights bring more life to the store. And I think it's safer to do manis and pedis with bright lights.

2. Safe and hygienic nail services

We all know that Pink Parlour is all about safe and hygienic treatments especially when it comes to their waxing services. Recently, they have incorporated this policy to their mani and pedi services. They now sterilize their tools every use to ensure that these are entirely clean and sanitized before using it on another client.

3. Perfect (and dry) polish

I hate it when my polish would get messed up because it didn't dry up completely. To address that, they now have a nail dryer so that you'll leave the salon with perfectly dry polish that won't get messed up even if you eat after or get something from your bag or pockets. Their wide selection of OPI, China Glaze, and other branded polish is also something to look forward to!

4. New branch!

Pink Parlour has recently opened its Prestige Salon at Eastwood Mall. Expect the ultimate royal treatment and pampering in their new castle!

5. More awesome promos!

From this month until February 2016, you may avail of their highly recommended Princess Pedicure for half the price when you book online. This is valid for appointments from 12nn until 1pm during weekdays. This one's definitely perfect for mommies who work so hard and deserve some pampering!

I am ecstatic that I was able to see it at one of the latest and most innovative cinemas in the country today. It was truly a one of a kind experience!

Calyxta Turns 1!

A few days ago, Calyxta celebrated its first anniversary and I was one lucky girl to have taken part in its awesome celebration. If you haven't heard of Calyxta yet, it is a one-stop source of anything related to beauty. This beauty e-shop and community has the scoop on the latest beauty products, beauty product reviews, and make-up tutorials. Aside from those, they also carry these beauty items on their website so that you could purchase them right away. Here are some of the products which you may find at Calyxta's website:

Skin care products
Hair care products
And tons of make-up!

The first anniversary of Calyxta looked like an upgraded version of a makeover party with your girl friends! Everyone loves parties. Everyone also loves to be pampered. Put the two together, and you’ve got an experience that is sure to make everyone feel special. During the said event held at Makati Diamond Residences, Calyxta made sure that everyone was treated to an afternoon filled with beauty and pampering. Now, who would not want that? :)

Maybelline definitely made everyone beautiful during the event!
Beach look by Toni&Guy. But I'd like to call it my "Daenerys Targaryen" hairstyle :p
Relaxing foot massage by Enza Nails and Spa

Aside from cocktails and awesome music by Pioneer Philippines and “Singles of Manila” DJs Jess Milner, T-MAC, and Quark Henares, there were different booths by beauty brands and services for the guests to try out. Among these brands were Ciaté London, Toni & Guy, Maybelline, Browhaus, Strip, My Amazing Blow Dry Secret, and Enza Nail Spa. Although I stayed at the event for four hours, I was only able to try out hair styling by Toni & Guy, hand and foot massage by Enza Nail Spa, and brow threading by Browhaus. Unfortunately, I missed the make-up makeover by Maybelline Philippines and nail art by Ciaté London.

Thank you Browhaus for making my uneven brows perfect!
Nail art and more at Ciate London's booth
Awesome #Peterait by Pete Rich Chiu Wan :)

This event is definitely a dream come true for stressed and busy ladies (like me!) And just like this all-out event, Calyxta continues to aim the providing of an all-out and complete service when it comes to beauty - not just in supplying beauty products to customers but also in giving that unique experience through beauty tips and tricks through by way of video tutorials and how-to articles.

Thank you Calyxta and Love and Light Productions for having me!

My Bebe Love: Kilig Pa More! Blogger's Conference

The Christmas season once again marks the commencement of the most awaited Metro Manila Film Festival. And this year, the bar is set high as the newest record-breaking, phenomenal loveteam, #Aldub, joins the undisputed Philippine box-office king of comedy, Vic Sotto, and the box-office queen of comedy, Ai-Ai Delas Alas, for a feel-good romantic comedy that will provide you with high-spirited excitement, heartwarming romance, wholesome fun, and excellent Filipino values and which the whole family will surely love! There is no doubt that, “My Bebe Love: Kilig Pa More!,” starring Vic Sotto, Ai-Ai Delas Alas and the phenomenal loveteam Aldub of Alden Richards and Maine “Yayadub” Mendoza, is going to make a killing at the box-office  in the MMFF History.

In this movie, Vic Sotto plays the role of Vito who finds himself at odds and in a bitter professional rivalry with Cora, played by Ai-Ai. The two are both in the business of mounting special events and productions and have both made a successful name in the same profession. The conflict happens when their respective wards – Anna (played by Maine) daughter of Vito, gets romantically entangled with Cora’s beloved nephew Dondi (played by Alden). As expected, the “parents” actively reject the budding romantic involvement between the star-crossed lovers and willingly struck an unexpected truce to prevent this romance from happening.

The plot thickens when the unexpected alliance of the Vito and Cora starts blooming into something else. Now, it’s the turn of the youngsters to feel disconcerted with the idea of having their folks enter into a different relationship zone.  Now it was the turn of Dondi and Anna to react to the situation. They did not like the idea of his auntie and her father falling in love with each other.  Now it was the younger generation vehemently reacting to this new romance.

Bossing Vic Sotto and Comedy Queen Ai-ai Delas Alas

This early, festival observers are already predicting a surefire box-office reign for “My Bebe Love: Kilig Pa More!” which is jointly-offered by OctoArts Films, M-Zet Television Productions, Inc., APT Entertainment, GMA Films and Meda Production. While the country is being swept away by the record-breaking loveteam of Alden Richards and Maine “Yayadub” Mendoza, MMFF is poised to be another territory for conquest by the Aldub phenomenon. This is the duo’s most exciting film debut.

“My Bebe Love: Kilig Pa More!” also features Joey de Leon, the “Eat Bulaga” lolas Paolo Ballesteros, Jose Manalo, and Wally Bayola, and Ryzza Mae Dizon, in special appearances.

Pambansang Bae, Alden Richards with My Bebe Love Director, Jose Javier Reyes

There are lots of exciting scenes to look forward to since we will get to see a side of Aldub, particularly of newcomer Maine Mendoza, that we haven't seen in the Kalyeserye series of Eat Bulaga. If there would be any kissing scenes in the movie? That we have to see for ourselves since Alden left the question unanswered. However, he didn't out rightly said no. Of course, we'll see a different Vic Sotto as compared to his usual roles in fantasy movies. So where will all this end? Catch the excitement, the love, the fun and romance when “My Bebe Love: Kilig Pa More!” starts showing on Christmas Day at the MMFF.

#MakeTimeForDad: a COPD awareness campaign by GSK

COPD or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease is not an illness we are commonly acquainted with. It is quite ironic because as the seventh killer disease in the Philippines, COPD must be one of the diseases that we should be wary of. To spread awareness of this peculiar yet prevalent disease, GlaxoSmithKline and the Philippine College of Chest Physicians launched a new campaign called #MakeTimeForDad.

Basically, COPD is a progressive lung ailment that makes breathing difficult and invariable leads to death. Cigarette smoking causes 80% to 90% of COPD cases. However, it could also be caused by indoor and outdoor pollution. Patients who are suffering from COPD experience breathlessness, abnormal sputum characterized by a mix of saliva and mucus, and chronic cough. While it is one major killer disease in our country, only 2% of the 4.2 million Filipinos are diagnosed with it.

People are often diagnosed with COPD in their 50s and 60s. However, these diagnoses are relatively late as COPD can begin in your 40s. "If your father is a smoker and he begins to experience coughing with phlegm and an unusual breathing pattern, consult a doctor. He may be asked to get a spirometry exam to diagnose COPD," says Dr. Gio Barangan, GSK's Medical Director.

For this campaign, there is no other better person to share about the disease and its effects than Epy Quizon. Epy lost his father, the Comedy King Dolphy, to COPD three years ago. He shared that Dolphy used to be a heavy smoker who started smoking in his teen years. When he was 45, he was diagnosed with emphysema and by that time, his lungs were so black. The damage to his lungs continued to progress with age and he was diagnosed with COPD at the age of 79.

When he turned 80, he began carrying oxygen concentrator everywhere he went, The once vibrant Comedy King had become lethargic. Aside from frequent coughs and shortness of breath, Dolphy would also complain of tiredness after taking a few steps. "Our dad was a fighter. He was our general, our commander-in-chief, so watching him get weaker and trying hard to just catch his breath was very difficult for us," Epy recalled emotionally.

The #MakeTimeForDad campaign is an advocacy very close to Epy because it was the disease that took his dad's life. Thus, he wanted to make people aware of the disease and to give people a clearer picture of how the disease affects not only the patient but the entire family. As a progressive disease, COPD becomes a familial problem, Once the father is affected, the rest of the family assumes the responsibility of taking care of the patient and they play an important role in the patient's treatment journey.

To take part in the campaign, family members are encouraged to upload 30-second videos on Facebook and Instagram, stating a list of things they want to do or wish they could have done with their fathers. This would serve as a reminder for them to act now if they feel their loved ones are at risk for COPD, and value each moment they spend with them.
