Azta Urban Salon - SM Jazz Makati's Single Tone Ombre Review

I recently joined and won a blog giveaway of Ms. Kath Rivera of kathrivera.com and Azta Urban Salon - SM Jazz, Makati which entitled me to discover ombre through a hair makeover. I have actually tried sporting ombre hair around 2 years ago when I won an ombre makeover from Ms. Kira Ramirez and Azta Urban Salon as well. Here's the link to that makeover: http://www.mishrendon.com/2012/06/ombre-hair-makeover-azta-urban-salon.html.

Anyway, this time I decided to not go through the makeover anymore since I wanted to keep my hair simple for school. I wanted to try out Sombre but I decided to give the gift certificate to my sister who wanted to have her hair ombred. Our peg for her look was Carissa Alvarado of Us the Duo:

We got by Azta Urban Salon at SM Jazz Makati at around 11 in the morning. We didn't have a hard time finding Azta cause SM Jazz is a really small place. We were actually late for our 10 am appointment but they had customers then so we had our brunch first and got back before 1.

As compared to two years ago, Azta Urban Salon now offers different styles of ombre. Among these are Balayage, Shadow Faux, Dip Dye, Single Tone, Sombre, and Go Funky. I think what they did to my hair previously was a cross between Balayage and Single Tone.

For my sister's hair makeover, Ms. Lyn, her stylist, decided that it would be best to go with the Single Tone ombre to achieve Carissa Alvarado's hair. They skipped with washing the hair cause she just washed her hair before leaving home. They then started to apply bleach using MLV products to the bottom half of her hair, but keeping it high in front.

They placed foil on her bangs to prevent the hair and bleach from touching her face. And the first half of the procedure lasted at around 1 hour to 1 and 1/2 hours. After such period, they applied bleach again on her hair. I have noticed though that my sister wasn't offered any drink and I know that Azta usually offers their clients milk tea or iced tea. It was no big deal for us nonetheless.

That second half of bleaching the hair took around 40 minutes to 1 hour. After rinsing the bleach, I thought they would still apply hair color on her hair to achieve that ash blonde color cause that was what they did to my hair when I had my hair makeover back then. Usually, dark hair tends to look brassy after bleaching. However, they proceeded with drying the hair and curling it.

Personally, I love how the ombre turned out on her. However, it was far from the hair peg that we showed so I don't think my sister was quite satisfied. Nevertheless, Azta Urban Salon has always been commendable with their ombre service being one of the pioneers of such hairstyle in this country. And I love the refreshing look of their new branch at SM Jazz Makati.
