When in Guam - Oceanview Hotel and Residences

We rarely go overseas to travel. When we do, we'd usually go in batches (by twos or threes) just because it's too costly for everyone of us to travel. Last year, we were able to grab a seat sale at Cebu Pacific to Guam for only less than P5000 per head so my parents decided that it would be nice for everyone to come.

Since we were on a budget, we had to be wise when it comes to looking for a hotel. We stayed at Days Inn Hotel in Tamuning during our last visit but it was too far from any bus stop and we weren't planning on renting a car. I ended up canvassing at Agoda for a hotel that is cheap, near a bus stop, has a pool, and can accommodate five people. My search landed me to Oceanview Hotel and Residences.

We were able to book a two bedroom condominium at Oceanview Hotel for only P7500 per night. It was around P6500 for the room for four persons and more or less P1000 for the extra bed which we never needed. There were five of us so it was really the perfect place for us. It has its own kitchen, living room with cable TV (we watched KBS all the time!), two bedrooms with two double beds each, two restrooms (one with a tub and one with a shower), and a balcony. It was too spacious that it could fit in at most 10 people. Other hotels with such amenities would probably cost us double.

This kitchen was complete! It has a microwave, stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, and utensils!

They keep the place clean whenever we're out and it's nice to go home to a refreshing and clean room. They replenished the shampoo and soap every day but not the complimentary water. They even washed the dishes that we left during our first night. Best news is that they have WiFi that actually works!! We were planning on getting a pocket wifi at the airport for $10 per day, but I glad that we didn't. By the way, Oceanview also offers hotel rooms which could accommodate smaller groups of people.

Shampoo, lotion, and soap. They didn't have toothbrushes and slippers though.

The hotel also has a pool which happened to be under renovation when we got there. They opened the pool right before we leave the hotel. The hotel isn't exactly by the beach so we had to go the nearest public beach to enjoy the sea. It's near the beach by Westin Hotel but I am not sure if there's access through there because that area's just a row of beach front hotels. But I am definitely not complaining because I got the best view of Tumon Bay from our room.

Right before we leave. They say the spa's awesome at Oceanview, but we never got to try it.

We get to be treated to a rainbow every now and then.

There's a Chamorro restaurant at the lobby of the hotel but there are tons of restaurants that you could visit near the area. There's even an ABC Store nearby where I would usually buy my canned coffee. The place is also a 5 to 10 minute walk from the shopping district (The Plaza, JP Superstore, and T Galleria). The only thing I could complain of this place is the uphill climb. When you're tired the whole day shopping and walking around, it's the last thing you would want to do. Nevertheless, our stayed there was great.

How to get to Oceanview Hotel and Residences
1. Via cab - a 10 to 15 minute drive from the airport and will probably cost you around $20. The hotel offers an airport transfer for only $10 per head.
2. Via Red Guahan shuttle - Just get down at stop 23 (Pacific Place) of the LamLam tours shuttle (Tumon Route which could either be Northbound or Southbound) and walk towards the hotel.
