Be a Lifesaver: Share the chance to Go Love Life with Sangobion

The Christmas season centers itself not only on the festivities that comes with it but also on giving. Nowadays, giving is not only limited to material things. We could give love, prayers, and other intangible things that mean so much more. However, it did not occur to me that we could share our healthy blood, a thing that is badly needed everyday.

According to statistics, 1 out of 7 Filipinos who enter the hospital are in need of blood. That's about 2,000 to 2,500 units of blood needed daily. We all know that reliable blood supply is essential to health care practice, especially in treating diseases such as dengue and cancer. So there is a great demand for blood and yet not everyone gets to have access due to lack of supply.

The Philippine Red Cross has been actively supporting different hospitals nationwide by providing 25-30% of the country's needs. But even then, the supply still doesn't reach the targeted amount. That is why Merck Inc. partnered with Philippine Red Cross to start a project that aims to help reach the blood requirements of the country. This program will be propagated by one of Merck's leading brands, Sangobion.

With a shared vision, Sangobion and the Philippine Red Cross ran a blood drive called Be a Lifesaver. Together, they encourage women to extend their hand to other women and take the role of a lifesaver by simply donating their healthy blood.

The Be a Lifesaver project is the fourth and last phase of the Sangobion's Go Love Life project - a campaign that aims to encourage women of today to take care of one's self, to change one's lifestyle so they can go and enjoy the life they love.  

The Be a Lifesaver event was held last December 5 at SM City Fairview's Activity Center. It was hosted by events host, lifestyle blogger, and Sangobion brand ambassador, Patty Laurel-Filart. Another Sangobion brand ambassador, Kelly Misa-Fernandez, was likewise present during the event.

During the event, Kelly discussed how Sangobion, the country's leading organic iron supplement, has personally helped her. Not only did it help her fight the signs of iron deficiency, she explained that it also helped her become more energized and healthy. Sangobion indeed helps women look, feel, and perform at their best by boosting iron and keeping their blood healthy.

Singer Karylle likewise performed her latest single to entertain everyone during the event. Before the program ended, the people behind Merck Inc and Sangobion Go Love Life campaign expressed their appreciation for everyone who took part in the campaign and to those who shared their healthy blood in the Be a Lifesaver event. Before the day ended, there were 150 units of blood that was donated through this event alone. 

Sangobion aims to show women the value of taking care of oneself better and why they should not lose focus on their own lives as they concentrate on their family and career through the various events that were held such as beauty blowout and fashion shows. And through the last part of the program, the Be a Lifesaver project, Sangobion aspires to empower women to make a positive difference not just in their own lives but in our society as well.
