Greys and Blues

It has been ages since I last posted Z's outfit shots here on my blog. The last one was more than a year ago. I even had to read his previous OOTD posts since I forgot what I would usually write in these kinds of posts. And he used to be so tiny! Time flies really fast. Anyway, here's the recent outfit photos I took of Z. We go out a lot during the past few weeks, but I refuse to put fancy clothes on him cause it's too hot. During a recent pedia visit though, I decided to put on something comfortable, yet stylish for my little one.

I like putting on cool colors on Z because he looks great in them. Grey and blue tend to make him look manly. These colors are perfect for summer, too! They keep him cool especially if the material is lightweight. The shorts he is wearing, by the way, is one of my favorite items in his wardrobe. This pair is from Gingersnaps and they do carry the cutest and most stylish clothes for kids. The waist is stretchable so he has no problem moving around in it. The length is quite weird though so I had to fold it up to his knee.

Please do not judge my shoe lace tying skills. :)

I rarely buy new shoes for Z because his shoe size changes so fast. He normally uses sandals too whenever we go out so there's no need to buy him new shoes every now and then. It's not that I don't want to spend on him, but I don't think it is practical to buy an expensive pair of shoes that he will only wear for a few times. Luckily though, I was able to find this shoe store at Ayala Fairview Terraces. They sell canvas sneakers and flats for kids, flats for women (ala Solemate), and sneakers for men. The best thing about their products is that they are extremely affordable! This pair is only P250. They have this promo too that if you get two pairs of shoes, you'll only pay P350 for both items. Ladies shoes are even more affordable for only P150 per pair. If you are looking for affordable school shoes, I suggest you visit that place. I forgot the name of the shop, but I'll definitely create a separate blog post about them soon.

Not so happy to be posing for mommy! :p

I realized that I was too busy blogging about other things that I forgot to blog about the "Onesies" part of the "LBD and Onesies". Rest assured that I'll be posting more about Z in this blog. Not necessarily outfit posts, but our experiences together in general.

Hope you enjoyed this one! :)

Create New Memories at the Newly-Renovated SM Fairview Foodcourt

I had tons of memories created at SM Fairview's Foodcourt. When I was in high school, my friends and I would usually have lunch or snacks there because they have the most affordable meals and our school's just 5 minutes away from the mall. My classmates and I would also use the food court as a meeting place whenever we have to make group projects or other activities. I could say that my friendship with my high school buddies have developed there.

I have noticed recently though that a section of the food court was closed. During an event held last week, I found out that it was because of a renovation done at SM Fairview's Foodcourt. And I have definitely seen the improvement! From what I can recall, the lights in the ceiling used to be too loud, seats were cold and bleak, and the music was too upbeat. Now, the wide, open dining layout with colorful and comfortable seating gives an airy, bustling, cheerful and inviting ambiance as you walk through an entire stretch of food outlets to choose from.

I have also noticed new names at the newly-renovated SM Fairview Foodcourt. The food offerings are now a diverse mix of cuisines from around the world while the Filipino dishes give customers a chance to experience regional delicacies all in one place. The best thing about eating at SM Fairview Foodcourt is that you are assured that your meal is served fast and fresh. You can even see your dish being prepared through the open kitchen of some food outlets. Anyway during the said event, here are some of the dishes that we were able to savor:

I can't really say which one was my favorite among the dishes served because they have their own distinct taste and edge. I guess it's best to try all of the food outlets found at the food court until you could find the one that would make you come back again and again. Whether you are looking for a fast, hot filling meal or looking to enjoy bonding moments over good food with family and friends, the new Foodcourt at SM Fairview is the perfect place to meet and eat.

Photo from Karina of Digital Filipina. Thank you!!

I guess the renovation doesn't result to the loss of any memories that were created there, but instead to help create better moments and strengthen more friendships. And I am extremely happy that I was able to create new memories here at SM Fairview's Foodcourt with my blogger friends. :) Please visit SM Fairview's new Foodcourt at the lower ground floor, in front of the supermarket.

Finding Myself in my Writing

I know I look happy and all in these photos so I don't think this blog post would really make sense. But I just want to do a random post like I used to do and share my thoughts about how was blogging for me lately. Initially, I created this blog as a channel for me to express myself and to share my experiences as a mom. As I have shared in my previous blog posts, I wanted to do a mommy blog but I feel like I was too young to do that. I ventured into fashion blogging but it was too much work especially since I was taking care of a kid and dealing with law school. Eventually, I ended up with lifestyle or general blogging where I was able to work with more people and meet new friends. However, I felt like I lost my craft in the process.

The more I earn or received perks from my blog, the more I defeated the purpose of creating it. I mean it is nice to receive those, but I felt like I was no longer writing for myself. I wanted to express more of me in my writing, but I ended up writing for brands and events that I got associated with.

I also felt like that there was a competition. There was always a constant need to improve. However it does not pertain to my writing, but as to how I take my photos, present them on my blog and social media accounts, or on how I promote my blog as a brand itself. It was not really what I envisioned when I started this blog.

I had so much passion for writing when I started this blog and I still do until now. But I ended up doing less for myself because I was busy doing things that sometimes do not even matter to me. Of course, I still enjoy doing events and meeting other people, especially moms. It is only through blogging that I get to meet more moms since most of my friends who are my age aren't parents yet. But I am finally learning how to say no. I'm trying to write only the things that I want to share and attend only those events that interest me.

I hope no one would ever have to lose their passion because of pressure and competition. It's one of the saddest thing that could happen to a person - to lose your spirit. For me, blogging is the one of the ways wherein I could be creative. Honestly, reading materials in law school and making compositions in law school is so formal that you can't entirely be creative. Blogging is the exact opposite. It used to be my stress reliever.

Please let me know if you'd appreciate it if I write more personal posts because I have so much to share to all of you, especially when it comes to being a young single mom. I often get asked how I survive with everything that's going on with me or how I maintain my strength despite my situation and I felt like those are the things that I wanted to share to you. Of course, I don't think I would be able to post as often as I wanted to, but be assured that what I wrote in my blog would come from my heart.

Let me know what you think! :)

Kolours Dual Conditioning Hair Color in Shanghai Mahogany Review

As promised, here's a new hair color review for you guys! :) The product I used today's not from Revlon which I have constantly reviewed on my blog, but from Splash, a local company. By the way, it's only the second time that I have used Kolours since I wasn't satisfied the first time I tried it. The shift was mainly because I was looking for a nice and vibrant red shade and Revlon only has one shade of red available (Revlon Luminista in Red).

WHAT IT CLAIMS:

Vibrant, long lasting colors. Salon perfect results.

What sets Kolours apart from other hair coloring products available in the market is that their products are specifically made for Asian hair which is visibly darker and thicker. With its right formulation, it ensures to penetrate the hair for a perfect coverage from root to tip. It is also proudly Philippine-made.

Each box contains a creme colorant tube, color developer, two sachets of after-treatment conditioner, a pair of plastic hand gloves, and instruction leaflet. Just be sure to use an old shirt so that you won't need to worry about staining it in the process.

By the way, I used this product to lighten my roots and to add color to the rest of my hair. I regularly dye my hair at least every 3 to 4 months. I used it on top of Revlon Colorsilk in Light Reddish Brown which I have previously reviewed here on my blog.

BEFORE:

The product was easy to use. You just mix the creme colorant and color developer and apply it generously on your hair. Since I was doing a retouch, I applied the product first to my roots for at least 20 minutes before putting the remaining mixture to the rest of my hair. I left it there for probably at least another 30 minutes. However if you are dyeing your hair for the first time, do not start with your roots as they lighten the fastest.

DURING:

One hour after!

My usual coloring time is 1 hour. Most hair dye instructions usually recommend 20 to 30 minutes only. But since my hair is very resilient, I tend to extend the time until I get the desired results. By the way, the product did not stain my skin despite not having applied lotion or petroleum jelly.

AFTER:

The Good:
  • This product is very affordable. It only costs for less than P300 per box at Watsons.
  • Initially, I was happy that it was able to give my hair a reddish hint.
  • It was enough for my long hair. However if you have thick and long hair, I suggest you get two boxes.
  • I also love that there are two packs of after-treatment conditioner included.
  • The formulation is indeed non-drip which I find easier to apply. With that, however, you have to make sure that it coats every strand of your hair by combing it and rubbing it in.
  • This product is available in most department stores, supermarkets, and drugstores

The Not-so-Good:

  • Kolours has tons of different hair color available. However, I find that most of their brown and red shades give almost the same result. But then, I might have to try the other shades available to prove this wrong.
  • I've regularly dyed my hair for years now and it's the first time that my hair felt extremely dry. Conditioner does not really work anymore with my hair's condition as it gets tangled easily especially the lower part of my hair.
  • My hair looks more uneven. But it could probably because I have dyed my hair with several shades of brown and red since last year or because of how applied the dye.
  • My hair didn't turn red. Instead it was a medium brown shade with red undertones. I didn't even see the Mahogany Brown in there. The red eventually turned into orange a few days after.

Here's how my hair looked like after. It wasn't really the shade that I was aiming for since I wanted more red than brown or orange. Nevertheless, I was quite satisfied with how it lightened my roots. Definitely, I am still looking for a drugstore hair color that could give a more even coverage. But I might have to rest my hair first for a few months.

Hope this helps! :)
