Barenaked Sugaring Salon Il Terrazzo Eyebrow Shaping Review

I've only tried two waxing salons my entire life. Both of them uses hot wax so the concept of sugaring made me curious. Luckily, I was invited by the owners of the newly opened Barenaked Il Terrazzo branch to try out their eyebrow shaping sugaring service. I was quite skeptical at first because I was previously rejected by a waxing salon when I was about to have my brows waxed. Apparently, my brows needed to be shaped first before they could wax the remaining hair. With Barenaked's sugaring method, only one procedure is needed to shape the brows and remove the stray hairs.

Barenaked in Il Terrazzo is easy to locate. It's because they're alongside the yummiest restaurants in the area. :p You could actually see the place from outside of Il Terrazzo. They're located in the 2nd floor of the building.

Spacious waiting area
Spa-like hallway
Clean and sanitary beds.
As soon as I entered the salon, I definitely felt like I was inside a spa. The design of the salon, especially the green and yellow color scheme, gives out a serene and calming vibe. The area has four separate cubicles, each having a bed. It also has a washroom, a shower area which may be used by those who are to avail of their body scrubbing and brazilian/bikini sugaring services and a sauna. Most importantly, it has a spacious waiting area with comfortable seats for your companions. Let me add that the place has nice lighting. Not too bright as to make it a distraction, yet not too dim as to hinder the technicians from performing their services.

Before: messy brows

The entire procedure did not last more than 10 minutes. I was initially asked by my technician if I wanted thinner eyebrows and I told her to just tidy up the area yet keep the fullness of my brows. As a preparation for the sugaring procedure, my brows were first cleaned to remove dirt and makeup. Then, toner was applied. Lastly, powder was generously applied to the area to keep the sugaring paste from penetrating the skin.

A generous amount of sugaring paste was then prepared to be used for the entire area. So here's how sugaring works: 1. The paste is applied on a small part of the skin; 2. When all the hair in the area have stuck to the paste, it is then pulled consistently with the direction of the hair growth to remove the same; 3. The procedure is repeated until you get the desired result. What is amazing about sugaring is that even the finest hair can be removed as compared to other hair removal methods that requires a minimum length of hair before they could wax it.

As regards comfort, you need not worry about your skin getting burned because the sugaring paste is maintained at body temperature. I have no problems too with pain tolerance so I wasn't worried if the procedure would hurt or not. I am more concerned though with how my brows will look like after the procedure. But just so you know, it did not hurt much. As compared to threading which I find to be very painful, this method removes more hair at once so it is definitely less painful. I guess it also helped when my technician pressed the area for a few seconds after pulling the paste from my skin.

From a very light caramel color, the paste turns white when the powder gets mixed

After the sugaring procedure, my brows were perfected by trimming them and removing the remaining hair using tweezers. They were further cleansed, treated with toner, and applied with a solution to soothe the area. I have noticed that there was redness in the treated area right after the procedure which lasted for 3 hours. I was told not to wet the area for the next 6 hours. I was also told that itchiness in the area right after the procedure is normal, but I did not experience any discomfort.

Barenaked uses only imported sugaring paste which is made from 100% natural ingredients. Definitely edible and safe to use!

And here's how my brows look like after trying out their eyebrow shaping service. Clean and perfect. I am so happy with it and I love it!!!

It looks nice even without eyebrow make up! :D

As I have said before, grooming the brows should always be consistent. Although it takes a while before the hair grows again, it is advised that hair removal should be done every 3 weeks for maintenance. And for only P180, Barenaked's Eyebrow Shaping service is definitely an affordable service that even students could maintain as part of their beauty routine!
